Suturing Techniques

Sutures are used by your dentist to close wounds on the skin or other tissues. When the dentist sutures a wound, they’ll use a needle attached to a length of thread to stitch the wound. There are a variety of available materials that can be used for suturing which are discussed below. Your dentist will choose a material that’s appropriate for the wound or procedure depending on the type of wound.

Nursing Bottle Caries

The tooth decay that occurs in infants and very young children is often referred to as baby bottle tooth decay or nursing bottle caries. Nursing improperly often becomes a big reason for tooth decay and caries in babies if mother doesn't take proper care during or after feeding the babies. The way to prevent is to get the baby tooth cared from the very first day itself. Nursing bottle caries is kind of tooth decay associated with nursing, when the baby sucks the pacifier, or takes other sugary juices or drinks, or formula milk from a nursing bottle.

Oral Ulcers

Mouth ulcers or canker sores are small sores that form on the gums, lips, inner cheeks or palate. The ulcers can be triggered by several different factors, including minor injuries of gums due to pricks of tooth brush or sharp food items etc, hormonal changes and emotional stress. Mouth ulcers aren’t contagious and they go away on their own but there are treatments to relieve pain and discomfort.

Oral Habits

A habit can be defined as a routine behavior that is repeated regularly and most of the time tends to occur unconsciously. Oral habits are one of the major causative factors which lead to malformation or irregular alignment in dentofacial structures. These are the most frequent causes of malaligned teeth mostly seen in childhood and mixed dentition stages. In the oral cavity other than the forces created by habits there are many forces acting on the oral structures.

Gum Sensitivity

Besides maintaining proper oral hygiene by brushing twice a day, flossing the teeth, and cleaning the oral cavity with the utmost care, some people experience sore and sensitive gums. Sore and sensitive gums lead to a bad experience and it can be mild or severe. Some people shrug off mild sensitivity or minor annoyance, but sore gums can be a sign of serious problems in a few people. It is important to know or understand the reasons or causes for gum sensitivity and treatments that can relieve the sensitivity.
