Enamel and dentin layers protect the pulp from any infection. When the protective layers are damaged, the bacteria get into the pulp, causing the condition called as hot tooth. As the pulp resides trapped inside the tooth’s walls, the swelling causes pressure, pain, and infection.

The layers namely enamel and dentin can be damaged by varied conditions such as

• Tooth decay or cavities

• Fractured tooth
