Mouth ulcers or canker sores are small sores that form on the gums, lips, inner cheeks or palate. The ulcers can be triggered by several different factors, including minor injuries of gums due to pricks of tooth brush or sharp food items etc, hormonal changes and emotional stress. Mouth ulcers aren’t contagious and they go away on their own but there are treatments to relieve pain and discomfort.

Brushing Techniques

Brushing teeth is very essential to maintain good oral health because it prevents the accumulation of plaque in different areas of the oral cavity which is the main culprit in the cause of different teeth and gum problems. Saliva

Saliva is one of the defense mechanism systems of the gingiva. It is a clear, tasteless, odorless, viscous fluid, slightly acidic in nature with a ph of 6.8 consisting of secretions from the parotid gland, sublingual gland, submandibular gland, and mucous glands of the oral cavity. Saliva is the mechanical cleaner of the oral surfaces, by buffering acids produced by bacteria and controlling bacterial activity. Saliva is composed of 98% water, while the other 2% consists of other compounds such as electrolytes, mucus, antibacterial compounds, and various enzymes.
