And the reason is very straight, the world of the internet is full of misleading hair transplant myths and , and the common facts and truth are not typical and available to all. This is the biggest reason why most of us still have false notions about hair transplant surgeries.
Myth:Hair transplant gives you results instantly
Just like regular hair growth, hair transplant results cannot be accessed overnight
Once hair transplant surgery is completed, it will take about 6-9 months for you to notice consistent hair growth.
For some patients, this waiting period maybe 12 months.
It is important to note that patients may experience fall out of the transplanted hair during the ‘shock’ or ‘sleeping’ phase, and it is quite normal.
After that, well-anchored roots will start growing hair that would provide natural-looking results and blend in perfectly with your existing hair.
The point is, we need to have clarity about hair transplant facts and myths before making a decision.
Myth: It’s a Painful Procedure
Hair transplant procedures are performed under local anesthesia that means patients would not experience any pain or discomfort during the operations.
Once the effects of anesthesia wear off, patients may experience mild pain, and the surgeon would prescribe pain-relieving medications to mitigate pain and discomfort for 2-3 days.
In the latest Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) procedure small punches ranging from 0.7-0.8 mm are used to take out donor hair follicles, which heal very fast, hence the requirement of painkillers is minimal and patients resume their regular duties in 2-3 days.
Myth: It is only for men
Most people associate baldness and hair restoration procedures only with male pattern baldness, which is not true.
The truth is men and women have different balding patterns, and hair restoration techniques such as Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular unit extraction (FUE) are suitable both for men and women.
The best candidates for hair transplant procedures are those with common male pattern baldness or female pattern baldness.
While men have bald spots in the back or front of their heads, women lose hair differently and tend more towards diffuse thinning.

Hair transplant procedures such as follicular unit transplantation (FUT) and follicular unit extraction (FUE) are affordable.
Moreover, the cost of hair transplant procedures is often a one-off cost as the results are near permanent.
In other words, Hair Transplants are cost-effective options, especially if patients are already spending a fortune on semi-permanent treatments and alternatives.
